Elvin
Killerbee
Born in Baytown, TX, but moved to Baton Rouge
at an early age. Elvin was surrounded by the
southern musical culture that helped shape and
create his musical style today.
After playing drums at an early age, Elvin
decided to move on to his true destiny – playing
the guitar.
By the time he was 18 Elvin was performing
locally in area bands working the club scene and
traveling.
After a few years Elvin moved to Los Angeles
to forward his career, but unsatisfied he
returned home to re-embrace Baton Rouge’s own
unique blues heritage. Shortly thereafter the
Elvin Killerbee band was born.
Now playing and gathering attention, Elvin
also performed as a sideman for Zydeco legend
Lynn August. Traveling across America and
overseas to Europe and even an extended tour
into Africa. A tour which was sponsored by the
U.S. State Department.
Back at home, other notable Louisiana blues
names had started to notice Elvin’s band and it
wasn’t long before Elvin was performing with or
opening shows for people like Clarence Gatemouth
Brown, Kenny Neal and Marcia Ball.
He more recently performed as a guitarist for
Louisiana blues legend Lazy Lester, and opened a
post Katrina New Orleans show for on of
Louisiana’s best slide guitar exports, Sonny
Landreth.
